Ed Amsterdam was formed in 2008 by photographers Dennis Duijnhouwer and Bram Spaan. What initially began as a daily blog dedicated to showing their own photography representing their city of Amsterdam, has since grown into an autonomous photography platform for other photographers who share a certain passion, spirit and dedication when it comes to raw, unpolished analog city photography in order to best showcase the work of its growing network of diverse photographers. Ed Amsterdam will launch a new website which will be regularly updated.
To celebrate the launch of its upcoming website, Ed Amsterdam will be utilizing a space within the new North/Southline situated in the heart of Amsterdam. There will be an opening and exhibition, featuring the work of five photographers currently working under the umbrella of Ed Amsterdam (Dennis Duijnhouwer, Matthijs Diederiks, Ryan Cookson, Robbie Baauw and Bram Spaan).

Alongside working on various projects, commissioned works and designing for our Patta collections, our friend Vincent van de Waal also found the time to prepare his new exhibition entitled “Did You Think Of Me Today?”. The exhibition opens next month at the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum, so be sure to go check that out.
Van de Waal has graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2006.
His work is characterized by its direct and uncut nature,
a strong personal attitude and an undeniable graphic sensibility.
The inescapability of death and the transience of human existence
play a central role in his recent work. This inescapability is particularly
felt in moments of strong awareness of being alive.
Van de Waal reduces this to the essential, in black and white,
depicted in a parade of the grotesque.

Searching for Sugar Man tells the incredible true story of mysterious Sixto Rodriguez, the greatest 70′s US rock icon who never was. Discovered in a Detroit bar in the late 60′s by two celebrated producers struck by his soulful melodies and prophetic lyrics, they recorded an album which they believed would secure his reputation as the greatest recording artist of his generation. In fact, the album bombed and the singer disappeared into obscurity amid rumors of a gruesome on-stage suicide. But a bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and, over the next two decades, he became a phenomenon. The film follows the story of two South African fans who set out to find out what really happened to their hero. Their investigation leads them to a story more extraordinary than any of the existing myths about the artist known as Rodriguez. Directed by Swedish film maker Malik Bendjelloul.
