KAWS AT ARTZUID

KAWS "Along The Way"

ARTZUID is an open air sculpture biennial set in the south of Amsterdam. The initiative aims to stimulate art-related private-public initiatives to enhance the social cohesion in society. For 2015's edition, the 2,5 kilometer walking route will exhibit pieces of art by many artists, including KAWS' famed Companion scultures which you can have an early peek at right here. The free accessible exhibition officially opens May 22 and runs until September 22. Visit the ARTZUID website for more information, artist line up and walking routes.

  • [...] After announcing the exhibition at the end of last month, here we take a closer inspection at Brian Donnelly’s – better known as KAWS in this circle – three-piece contribution to Amsterdam’s ArtZuid 2015 project. As a part of the event, here we find KAWS transporting three works from his Along the Way series to iconic locations in the Dutch capital, which were previously seen at Mary Boone Gallery in New York City. The main sculpture stands just outside of the prestigious Rijksmuseum, while the other two – At This Time and Better Knowing – while the other pieces are planted around South Amsterdam. ArtZuid runs through September 22 while those unable to make it to Amsterdam can also see KAWS’ At This Time and Better Knowing sculptures over at Patta’s website.
