Who are you, and where are you from?
My name is Emmanuel Adjei and I was born and raised in Amsterdam. My roots lie in Ghana.
What keeps you occupied on a daily basis?
I’m a film director and visual artist. I also like to collect art and design every now and then.

As a teen I started making short videos at high school. At art school I focused mainly on video art and at film school I learned about narrative filmmaking.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
I mostly get inspired by (small) dramatic moments in life, i.e. an event that occurred to me, a family member or a friend. Daily life basically, And my girlfriend ;).
What is your best power piece at the moment? (clothing, collectors item etc)
A couple of years ago I got the opportunity to create a Nike AM1 Studio ID with some uncensored text on the back of the shoe. I guess that won’t be happening a second time.
What is your favourite visual at the moment and why? (art, photography, videos)
I really love the works of photographers Saul Leiter and Vivian Maier. Both have so much depth in their imagery. My all time favourite films are ‘There will be blood’ by Paul Thomas Anderson, ‘Dogtooth’ by Yorgos Lanthimos and ‘Funny Games’ by Michael Haneke.
Which music artists are you currently listening to and would you recommend others?
I’m a big fan of Philip Glass, Majid Jordan, Tame Impala, Jarreau Vandal, Nils Frahm, and the new James Blake album is very good! Artist and producers Sevdaliza and Mucky are certainly ones to watch!

I love the vibes of Los Angeles.
