Patta presents the final instalment of the Signature T-Shirt Series in collaboration with critically acclaimed photographer Dana Lixenberg.
Amsterdam-born and New York-based Lixenberg studied photography at the London College of Printing and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Lixenberg has exhibited extensively, several books of her work have been published and over the years she has received countless commissions from publications, such as Vibe, The New Yorker and Time. Previously released t-shirts from the series include The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Noam Chomsky, A Tribe Called Quest, PJ Harvey, Master P, Aaliyah and Allen Ginsberg.
The Patta x Dana Lixenberg Signature T-Shirt Series concludes with Dana’s portrait of iconic West Coast rapper Too $hort at his mansion in Atlanta, originally commissioned by Vibe magazine for their April 1996 issue. The second shirt features legendary poet, musician and author Gil Scott-Heron who was visiting a live showcase for the Red, Hot & Cool album in 1994. Dana seized the moment and got him in front of the camera. Vibe magazine ended up doing a separate story on him.
The Patta x Dana Lixenberg Signature T-Shirt Series featuring Too $hort and Gil Scott-Heron are the fifth and final set of a signature collection of ten t-shirts featuring iconic personalities photographed by Lixenberg, curated by Patta. Both shirts will be available at Patta Amsterdam, London and online on Friday, January 20th, 2017.
