In collaboration with publishing house Bas Lubberhuizen and Lecturis, record label Top Notch will re-release ‘AMSTERDAM’, the iconic 1979 photo book by critically acclaimed Dutch photographer Ed van der Elsken. The book contains pictures of the people and architecture of Amsterdam of the 50s and 60s, all captured in Van der Elsken’s raw and genuine style.
For this unique edition, more than 300 photographic negatives have been scanned and edited by the Nederlands Fotomuseum (Dutch Photomuseum). The layout is done by the Anthon Beeke collective who also took care of the make-up of its original edition. The book will be re-released in its original Dutch form and also, for the first time, in English.
Coinciding with the book’s re-release, the Stadsarchief Amsterdam will be hosting an exhibition from June 6 (vernissage June 5) until September 14, showcasing numerous original photos by Ed van der Elsken which he selected for the original edition of the book.
For this special occasion, Patta has produced a limited edition t-shirt and long sleeve shirt, both emblazoned with Ed van der Elsken’s iconic photography and typography. Both shirts will be available in store at Patta June 6.
