The Purple Tape

Get On Down has been hitting folks with left-right combos for a minute now with their splendid reissues. Instead of simply licensing/rereleasing published work with superfluous alterations or additions, they continuously drop releases you can't refuse, such as the elaborate Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde boxset, MF Doom Metal Face tin and Liquid Swords with chess box.

They continue this streak with (arguably?) the strongest solo effort in the Wu catalog: Raekwon's "Only Built For Cuban Linx" co-starring Ghostface Killah, also known as the "purple tape" due to the cassette's color. Among those in the know, the cassette occupies almost the same cult status as the album itself and is worth some good money on online auction sites (I've paid some hefty euros myself for a fresh and sealed copy). What better way than to rerelease "Only Built For Cuban Linx" in it's most recognized and sought after format: Purple cassette tape.

The tape is housed in a piano lacquer display box which also contains a 36-page hardcover book with text by Brian Coleman (featuring an in-depth interview and track-by-track breakdown by the Chef), extended artwork and linernotes, a poster and promotional sticker. Limited to a strict 1000 copies worldwide. Cop yours HERE while stocks last.
