Emory Douglas

L-to-R: Massimo, Gee, Emory, Tim, Vincent, Edson.

Today we were honored by a visit by Emory Douglas. Emory worked as the Minister of Culture and was responsible for the militant-chic designs and art direction for the Black Panther Party until the Party disbanded in the 1980s. His graphic art was featured in most issues of the newspaper The Black Panther and selected works can be found in his excellent book "Black Panther: The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas" (New York: Rizzoli, 2007). Do check that out when you get a chance.

Thank you for sharing your personal stories and life experiences, Patta salutes you!
