Who are you, and where are you from?
What keeps you occupied on a daily basis?
Possibilities. Drum Machines. Coffee. More endless possibilities & drum machines.
When and how did you get into music production?
I was forced to take piano lessons as a youth because I used to sound out songs with one finger on the piano and my parents thought I would like it. but I hated it. Now I wish I would have kept doing it.
What was it like to work with an Dutch artist who's language you don't understand?
It was a great time. Music is so much more that just words or written text. We were able to meet on a certain level where we both could communicate thru the beats and the melodies/cadences of the lyrics without me having a 100% understanding of the words. And I got to learn a little dutch too, so thats a nice bonus.
How did you get involved with Gumball 3000?
Gumball is family. Max is a legend. My man DJ Muggs and Bun B had been involved for years and told me about it first. Then 3 years ago my other brothers Jason Goldwatch and 13th Witness invited me on the run to create the soundtrack for a short film they were doing on the run. The relationship was built from there.
What is your best power piece at the moment? (clothing, collectors item etc)
At the moment I would say probably the Carhartt Eminem Jordans. Somebody offered me 25k for them but I didn't take it. And I don't 'collect' sneakers either, fuck that. If i have a pair I'm going to wear them, I wear my joints. If you see me on the street I might have 12.5k on each foot.
What is your favourite visual at the moment and why? (art, photography, videos)
I like this documentary called "Supermensch" about this guy Shep Gordon. Good shit right there.
Which music artists are you currently listening to and would you recommend others?
Check out Westside Gunn. Check out Conway. I like Big Twinz and Twiz The Beat Pro new album. Check out Brownsville Ka. Everything he's ever done. Of course check Roc Marciano. I like beats by Evidence. Don V. Jake One. Samiyam, who has a new album thats fire. I like beats by Animoss. Jon Wayne. Ohno. Knxlxdge. Derringer. Chuck Strangers. Black Milk is nuts. Budgie. Earl.
What is your relationship with Patta and when/where did it start?
Patta is family. I love and admire everybody on the team. We go back to the Fat Beats days before Patta, and have kept a strong relationship since. Although I think essentially they started as a shoe store, it seemed to me that they quickly developed their clothing brand, and I always looked at their brand as a cut above everything else. A limited, top-of-the-line product. Like Nike always was to other sneakers.
Their work ethic is crazy, as well as their attention to detail with everything they do, from collaborations to events etc.. They also protect their brand in way that is similar to the way I like to protect my brand as a producer, by not just doing 'anything'. In my eyes they set the trends and never follow. This is something I'm proud to align myself with!
