PATTA Q&A: VICKY GROUT

Photography by Johnny Fonseca

Leading up to the launch of our collaboration with ALCH we had a little chat with Vicky Grout the London based photographer who shot the lookbook images.

Who are you, and where are you from?
My name’s Vicky Grout, I’m a 20-year-old photographer from South-West London.

What keeps you occupied on a daily basis?
Nowadays if I’m not out shooting, then I’m usually reading/watching documentaries, planning my future, or just generally being boring.

When and how did you get into photography?
When I was around 13/14, I found my parents' old film camera. From that moment on I would just always shoot what I was doing, whether it was shows I was going to or candid shots of mates.

What was the first camera you bought?
The first camera I ever bought was probably a Canon AE-1 Program. I didn’t really know how to use it at the time, so a lot of my rolls came back blank.

Who and what really inspires you and your work?
If it’s not London/youth culture then definitely the talent that comes from it, particularly music.

What is your favourite visual at the moment and why?
My favourite visual at the moment is probably Sampha’s short film “Process” directed by Kahlil Joseph.

What is your favourite travel destination?
I haven’t been to many exciting places, apart from Miami. I’m dying to go to Cuba and Chicago though, the culture shock would be mad.

Which music artists are you currently listening to and would you recommend others?
Some artists I’m currently listening to are:

Mist

SZA

Ray BLK

J Hus
