We've asked the talented drummer Yussef Dayes a couple of questions about his recent signing to the Yamaha family and more.

Who are you, and where are you from?
Im Yussef Dayes a.k.a drummer boy. A musician & Producer born in South London to Jamaican & English parents.

What keeps you occupied on a daily basis?
At the moment I’m in the studio a lot, collaborating and experimenting with producers and musicians who are pushing the culture forward!
Most recently laying down some drums for The Alchemist & Lunice for a special Patta x Redbull BC One record!
How did you get started playing the drums?
Music was always in the family, my father a bass player & my brothers were all young musicians, so from a young age I showed signs of wanting to play the drums. I was told stories by my parents that I would be breaking the pots and pans in the kitchen until there was nothing left to cook with, so they got me my first drum kit and the rest is history..

You're now part of the Yamaha family. What does this mean for you in the future?

Joining the Yamaha family has been a blessing! They provide me with the best drums out there, giving me the tools I require to hone my craft, and another platform to share my art!

Which music artists are you currently listening to and would you recommend others?

I’ve been listening to a upcoming singer Charlotte Dosantos from Oslo. And also the new mixtape of Giggs 'Wamp 2 Dem'.

What is your best power piece at the moment?
I was fortunate enough to perform at Virgil Abloah’s nike launch dinner in London, and was gifted a pair of those crispy fresh off white blazer mids!!

What is your favourite graphic at the moment and why?
I recently saw Kahlil Joseph’s short film ‘Wildcat’ at Arthur Jaffa’s Exhibition in London. Was one of the most beautiful visuals I’ve seen in a long time.

What is your favourite travel destination?
Seansoning some drums in Yoff, North west Dakar, Senegal. A place home to the Sabar drummers, the original form of sound communication. Will be traveling back there soon.
