Oyster Festival at Melkweg

On Saturday, 18th February there will be a new music festival called Oyster. During Oyster, the genres that have emerged from the suburbs and suburbs of the major British cities are central. Fans of alternative R&B, hip-hop, neo-soul, grime, UK garage and electronic have come to the right place!

In the three Melkweg concert halls, you can enjoy performances by Unknown T , ENNY , Dréya Mac , Sam Gellaitry and many other upcoming acts from the UK. A special Oyster film program is shown in the Melkweg cinema in collaboration with creative consultancy Soursop and delicious Caribbean-inspired snacks and bites are available in our cafe MILK. In addition, the festival will be broadcast live by our frequent collaborator Echobox. After the festival, we will continue in the Max with Encore: It's a London Thing!

Amie Galbraith is a visual artist born and raised in Manchester (UK), now based in Amsterdam. She is focused on documenting music and club subcultures, young creatives, and the materials and spaces of everyday life. During Oyster, she will present archive images from her time photographing Grime shows at Melkweg in 2015-2016 alongside recent work to allow for new connections between the two to emerge.
