As authors with mixed backgrounds themselves, Albert de Leeuw and Yvonne Zoethout have faced identity-confusing situations throughout their lives. After meeting more people with mixed backgrounds, they realized that this is a large and underrepresented group in society. This led them to share their own story and the stories of others in a vulnerable and honest way, along with portrait photos in their book.
Their hope is to contribute to creating a space for recognition, acknowledgment, and positive self-image formation in the search for identity.
