Farida Sedoc is a visual artist based in Amsterdam. Long-time friend and collaborator on our last year Keti Koti graphic T-Shirt as well as being a featured artist in Chapter 1NE, an exhibition curated by Patta Co-founders Edson Sabajo and Guillaume ‘Gee’ Schmidt. Originally the concept of the project was to create several in-store workshops surrounding black hair but due to social distancing, the project changed shape. This summer capsule collection is inspired by this Patta hair salon idea where we asked Farida to assist us in creating a series of 3 graphic T-Shirts, a Silk Scarf and a Toiletry Bag.
The Patta x Farida Sedoc Silk Scarf features an all over print of traditional barber tools and equipment with a script logo in a contrasting colourway. Farida herself commented that '
A utility bag and scarf both multifunctional with a hair comb print. Not only a symbol of adornment but also a political emblem and signature of a collective identity. Saying no to oppression and showing comradeship amongst those whose hair grows up and out, not down.'
