Founded in 1949 by Kichahiro Onitsuka as Onitsuka Co., Ltd, the Japanese brand produced basketball shoes at first, but quickly expanded to different types of athletic footwear throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's.
In 1977, Onitsuka merged with GTO and Jelenk to forge ASICS. An acronym for "Anima Sana in Corpore Sano", which translates to "A Healthy Soul in a Healthy Body". As one of Japan's biggest sportswear companies, ASICS continues to play a big part in the sneaker industry with their Gel sneaker lines. They were also one of the first companies to work together with Patta on a footwear collaboration.
The Gel Kyrios is an updated version of the Gel Hyrios that was originally released in 2005. This neon colourway offers a runner a lot of visibility at night but also for someone looking to add some vibrant colour to their wardrobe.
