After Rudolf Dassler parted ways with his Brother Adolf in 1948, he founded his own company RUDA and moved across the Aurach river to differentiate between his brother's company adidas and his own. The name RUDA changed to Puma a few months later and the rivalry was on in full fledge. Soon, the brand made a huge impact sponsoring members of the West German national football team and many Olympic medal winners.
