On November 25th, Suriname celebrated Srefidensi Dey, its Independence Day. To mark this occasion, Patta collaborated with MUBI and Eye Filmmusuem to bring Wan Pipel to the big screen for a new generation. MUBI presented the 1976 film in a recontextualized format suitable for modern screens paired w/ English subtitling for our diverse Patta community.

The excitement began at the Eye Filmmuseum, where the Patta community gathered in anticipation of Wan Pipel. Refreshments from Meo's Colosseum offered authentic Surinamese snacks. Before the movie, Ira Kip shared inspiring words. As the film was about to begin, a delightful surprise awaited: Pim de la Parra, the director himself, extended his wishes for an enjoyable viewing. For those eager to experience the legendary Surinamese film Wan Pipel, luck is on your side! MUBI will soon release the movie online.
