BOOKS WE SHARE: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MALCOLM X

This year, Patta and The Black Archives are joining forces, making hidden stories and history around Hip Hop and street culture visible. Patta was born out of a passion for Hip Hop, sneakers and street culture. The Black Archives is a unique historical archive for inspiring conversations, activities and literature from Black and other perspectives that are often overlooked elsewhere, and was founded on passion for black history, culture and literature. Hip Hop is a culture created by Afro-American, Afro-Caribbean and Latin American youth in 1970s New York that is now being embraced by billions of people worldwide. Hip Hop, street culture, black literature and history are inextricably linked. Because we care about Eternal Education we will be sharing one book from The Black Archives on black history, culture and literature every month.

This month:

The Autobiography of Malcolm X

Why you should read it: Malcolm X (1925–1965) was an African-American Muslim minister and human rights activist. To his admirers he was a courageous advocate for the rights of blacks, a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans; detractors accused him of preaching racism and violence. He has been called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history.

After the first edition on June 30th, Patta and The Black Archives are once again teaming up on September 2nd, for the 2nd edition of “Books We Share..”

Special guest for this edition is Hip Hop legend M1 of Dead Prez. "Books We Share.." is the event where we talk to Hip Hop enthusiasts and discuss books that inspired them. Our conversation with M1 will revolve around everything from his music, his experiences in and views on the Hip Hop industry to socio-political movements.

Following this conversation M1 will bless us with a performance alongside Italian producer Bonnot of Assalti Frontali, as they recently released the joint album ‘Between Me And The World’. There are only a limited number of spots available and there will be enough space for interaction with the audience, so get your tickets with the quickness here.
